Heroes Relay for Life - The Result Posted 7/12/2010 2:08:56 AM by Nightgirl - [Show All My Posts] The Heroes 24 hour DJ-a-thon in aid of Relay for Life is now officially over. The kiosks have been cleared away, the DJs have been tucked up in bed, still trembling, and of course the donations have been counted.
I am truly delighted to announce that over the 24 hour period we made a staggering L$201,000 for this wonderful charity. I can honestly say that I have never, ever been prouder of my club and its members and staff than I am right now. We are a long way from being the biggest club in SL, and to make such an amount is awe-inspiring.
I have lots of thank yous. To our DJs, who not only gave their time for free, but also gave very generously to the appeal:
Azrai, Caliente, Darrius, Cherry, Abel, Wani, Virginia, Ophi (both of whom stepped in at the very last minute when others weren't able to make it), BigJ, Beth, Red
Guys, we literally couldn't have done it without you.
To our hosts and hostesses, who also gave up their own time to come and send notices, hustle people into the club and keep the donations flowing. You know who you are, and you have my heartfelt thanks.
And, most of all, to each and every one of you who came to the club, helped make the atmosphere the best its ever been, and donated. Whether big or small, it doesn't matter. Some of you gave every last linden you had. Every one counted. And this weekend, you were ALL Heroes.
On behalf of my team, thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Readers Comments 1. That's really awesome Nightgirl! Posted at 6:30:36 AM on 7/12/2010 by -Blue | 2. I'd like to add my thanks too. It was staggering that this amount was raised in a 24hr period at all! With thirty minutes to go it was around the 150k mark if I recall so there was a real push towards the end and as that 200k mark came up, it was quite literally at the end of the 24hour period too, a big cheer went up, as well as a few expletives etc when that figure was announced. Thank you all for all of your hard work in organising and pulling this together. I may have only popped in a few times over the course of the marathon, but when I did drop in it was fun and quite busy too. Everyone there was bald too, a gesture of support on behalf of others that have cancer and also treatment for it. A real worthy cause to support. You can be sure that I'll be there for the next one at Heroes as no doubt others will do as well. Time for some DJ's, and others, to take a well earned rest now. Well done everyone concerned and maybe, just maybe, we can do it agai and beat that figure? Posted at 6:56:45 AM on 7/12/2010 by Rorrim |
